Adding & Managing Artists

How to add artists to your monitoring list and verify ownership through Spotify.

Adding an artist takes about two minutes. You need access to the artist's Spotify for Artists account to complete the verification step.

Step 1: open the search dialog

Go to Dashboard > Artists and click Add Artist in the top right.

Step 2: search and select the artist

Type a name or paste a Spotify URL. Results pull live from Spotify as you type.

Add Artist search modal with results showing artist names and follower counts

Click the artist you want to add. A verification code is generated, something like AGUARD-4F2B9C.

Step 3: paste the code into the Spotify biography

Open Spotify for Artists, go to the artist's profile, and paste the code anywhere in the biography text. Save it.

You have 10 minutes. ArtistGuard checks in the background and picks it up automatically the moment it appears. Once found, the artist is added and a full catalog scan begins. After that you can remove the code from the bio.

Finding a Spotify URL

Open the artist's Spotify profile, click the three-dot menu, then Share > Copy link to artist. Paste it in the search box. You can also paste just the ID at the end of the URL.

Business plan: instant verification

On the Business plan, clicking an artist adds them immediately. No biography step needed. Useful for agencies managing many artists at once.

Removing an artist

Open the artist detail page and click Remove artist. Monitoring stops right away. Existing change history stays in your account, but nothing new is recorded. Adding them back later starts a fresh scan.
